Description
BASICS Varnishes are developed for students and artists that need dependable quality at an economical price.
As a general rule, you should always varnish your acrylic work when possible. Varnishes are applied over dry paint films and have several purposes. The first and most important function is to protect the painting surface from the environment and protect the pigments from ultraviolet light. Secondly, varnishes can be used to change or unify a painting’s surface sheen. Liquitex BASICS varnishes come in matte and glossy.
BASICS mediums are mixed with acrylic paint to adjust how the paint works, feels and looks. They can be used to add texture, adjust paint flow, and alter the working properties of the color. Because they include acrylic resin, these mediums maintain or add to the stability of the paint film, and can be used in any amount desired. BASICS Varnishes are permanent and used to protect finished paintings.
Gloss Varnish can be mixed with Matte Varnish to vary the final finish sheen. Best applied with a large soft brush, it dries to a clear, non-yellowing finish.
